Book Progress

As you may know, I’ve been working on a plectrum banjo jazz improv book for a couple of years now. Life and varying levels of ambition have slowed my progress! Since I am also essentially learning the subject as I write, I have had to go slow to give time for things to settle in and make sense. I am also in the process of negotiating with a publisher, but I may just do it entirely on my own, like my first book.

I am now to the point though where I feel I can give you this teaser: I have simply taken the first page of each chapter to give a synopsis, so you’ll understand the scope of what I am trying to produce. The hard work of finishing the exercises and recording them lies ahead, but I feel confident that most of the text is ready.

I have learned not to give a date for completion; it will be done when it is done. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this teaser, enough so that you will be interested in buying a copy when I finish.

  1. I play tenor and plectrum. I buy songbooks with chord call-out or arrangements for popular songs, I have about 400 songs so far. I’m definitely interested. Both Allan’s books and “the Flying Dutchman” are examples of what I have purchased in the past. We need more, thanks.

  2. Some smashin’ stuff in there ,Ron. I don’t think, no, I know I’ll never be the banjo player I’d like to be, but the info. in your taster has made me a definite buyer when your book is ready.
